Volume 39 Number 2 | April 2025

An ASCLS task force has been working on making the ASCLS elections process more efficient and effective. Improvements will be implemented at the 2025 ASCLS, AGT & SAFMLS Joint Annual Meeting (JAM).

Delegates are responsible for electing officers, directors, and Judicial and Nominations Committees members each year during JAM. As technology has improved, delegates now cast their votes electronically with an app.

Given that delegates may attend JAM and the House of Delegates either in-person or virtually, times to vote in the election have been updated to accommodate individuals in all U.S. time zones.

Voting will open for all delegates at 11 am on day one of JAM (day one is the day after the ASCLS Board of Directors meeting) at the in-person meeting site. Voting opens at the time matching the meeting site time zone. For example, in 2025 JAM will be held in Sacramento, California, which is in the Pacific Time Zone. When voting opens at 11 am in Sacramento, it will be 2 pm in the Eastern Time Zone, 1 pm in the Central Time Zone, noon in the Mountain Time Zone, 10 am in Alaska, and 9 am in Hawaii.

Delegates will have 24 hours to cast their ballots. If a run-off is required, voting will begin at 1 pm at the meeting site on day two. Run-off balloting will be open for five hours. If a second run-off is required, voting will begin at 9 am at the meeting site on day three.

Delegates will receive instructions on how to vote with a timetable prior to the election. The instruction sheet will be distributed to delegates attending JAM in person. All delegates, both in-person and virtual, will receive these instructions via email.
