A critical element of enhancing the clinical laboratory workforce and the faculty who train them is to increase retention. Opportunities for career advancement are highly correlated with higher retention rates.

Up to $200,000 is scholarship funds has been made available with up to $5,000 available to each eligible student.

Granted on a rolling basis there are two scholarship opportunities:

  • Faculty Development
  • Career Ladder

Eligibility and Awards

One-time scholarships up to $5,000 per individual are available to cover the cost of tuition, fees, and or books not covered by other scholarships, grants or financial aid (loans or stipends are not financial aid). Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, currently enrolled in a U.S.-based institution of higher learning, graduating May 1, 2025 or later.

Faculty Development Scholarships

Purpose: to expand the number of qualified faculty by encouraging retention through professional advancement.

  • Currently employed as a non-tenured medical laboratory educator
  • Enrolled as a student and working toward a degree that would enhance the student educator’s prospects toward advancement (typically this is a masters or doctoral degree)

Career Ladder Scholarships

Purpose: to expand the number of qualified medical laboratory professionals by encouraging retention through professional advancement.

  • Currently employed as a certified medical laboratory professional.
  • Enrolled as a student in a course of study intended to lead to additional medical laboratory certifications. For example: a professional employed as a medical laboratory technician working towards earning their medical laboratory science certification.
