The 2025 CLEC Steering Committee is excited to announce the 2025 Clinical Laboratory Educators Conference (CLEC) Opening Keynote will feature Saundra McGuire, PhD, from Louisiana State University, and her presentation, “Teach Clinical Laboratory Students How to Learn: Metacognition is the Key!” on Thursday, March 6, at 12:30 pm Eastern. This interactive keynote address will demonstrate the importance of helping students acquire simple, but effective, learning strategies based on cognitive science principles. Engage in reflection questions and activities that will allow you to experience strategies that can significantly improve student success by transforming students’ attitudes about the meaning of learning.
Dr. McGuire is Director Emerita of the Center for Academic Success and Professor Emerita of Chemistry at Louisiana State University. She is an internationally recognized learning strategist who has helped thousands of health science students acquire effective learning strategies. She is the author of Teach Yourself How to Learn and Teach Students How to Learn and was named one of the Top 100 Learning Influencers in history by Eduflow.
