Time to Renew Your ASCLS Membership

For those of you who have not yet renewed, notices will arrive by mail in the next few weeks. Regular registration for the 2025 ASCLS, AGT & SAFMLS Joint Annual Meeting (JAM) ends next Tuesday, May 27. This unique conference brings together the scientific knowledge from three medical laboratory organizations offering opportunities to learn and connect with professionals from all facets of the medical laboratory.
Flexible attendee options allow you to attend in-person or virtually. All attendees receive access to session recordings for 30 days after the event, extending your learning opportunities.

Meet the Candidates for ASCLS National Office

Candidates were asked to answer the following question in a two-minute video: What is one unique skill, experience, and/or expertise that sets you apart to lead ASCLS and the profession in the future?
In an effort to create more touch points between the candidates running for national positions and the members electing them to those positions, the ASCLS Nominations Committee has scheduled virtual Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions in April and May to provide an opportunity for members to ask questions of the candidates running for national positions.

Call for CLEC 2026 Session Proposals

CLEC 2026 will be held February 5-7 in Bellevue, Washington, near Seattle at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. Share your knowledge, experiences, and perspectives on a variety of topics, including educational methodologies, teaching strategies, student centered issues, program management/administration, and faculty development. All educational sessions will be presented in-person.

CLEC 2025 On Demand

- Individual sessions are $10 for ASCLS members/$15 for non-members.
- The All Access CLEC 2025 On Demand bundle gives you 42 sessions and 42 hours of P.A.C.E.® credit ($275 for ASCLS Members/$400 for non-members).
Access to CLEC 2025 On Demand is good until March 31, 2026.

Webinar – Digging into the CLIA Personnel Qualification Updates

Speaker: Nicole Colby, MLS(ASCP)CM, Technical Training Specialist for COLA, one of the accreditation organizations with deemed status from CMS.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the significant changes to the CLIA personnel regulations which were effective December 28, 2024.
- Describe the new equivalency pathways available for evaluating an individual’s education.
- Identify various methods for documenting the experience required for CLIA supervisory positions.

Lab Week Run
Nearly 1,500 people participated in the 10th Annual ASCLS Lab Week Run and raised about $50,000 for ASCLS Developing and Ascending Professionals scholarships. Lab Week Proclamations
ASCLS members in Alabama, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, among others, had governors, mayors, or other elected officials sign proclamations that April 20-26, 2025, is Medical Laboratory Professionals Week.
ASCLS Announces Diagnostic Equity Collaboration

The Diagnostic Equity platform launched on April 22 and offers patients and healthcare providers personalized explanations of lab results. This resource is made possible in large part thanks to the dedication and expertise of ASCLS members.

Emerging Laboratory Managers Collaborative Conference (ELMC2) On Demand

Individual sessions are $10 for ASCLS Members/$15 for non-members. The All Access bundle of 21 sessions is available at the discounted rate of $150 for ASCLS members/$210 for non-members.
The virtual event is specifically designed for laboratory professionals preparing for or new to management roles. Session topics included retention and recruitment strategies, how to improve laboratory staff teamwork, tips for negotiating contracts, case studies in human resources, and more.

The OneLab Rapid Education and Capacity-building Hub (REACH) is a laboratory education and training learning management system specifically designed and tailored for the needs of clinical and public health laboratory professionals. OneLab REACH supports the laboratory community by providing relevant and timely education and training resources.
CDC’s OneLab Network provides opportunities for education and training, as well as a space for collaboration between clinical, public health, individuals who perform or coordinate testing at non-laboratory sites, and CDC laboratory education and training professionals.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Division of Laboratory Systems is approved as a provider of continuing education programs in the clinical laboratory sciences by the ASCLS P.A.C.E.® Program.
