The 2024 CLEC Steering Committee is excited to announce the 2024 Clinical Laboratory Educators Conference (CLEC) Opening Keynote will feature James McCoy, EdD, from the College of Southern Nevada, and his presentation, We’re Still Standing: (Re)Building Community in Today’s World, on Thursday, February 22, at 12:30 pm Pacific. His high energy, thought provoking keynote meets attendees where there are as educators and human beings in today’s world. Dr. McCoy offers concrete strategies to build and maintain a sense of community among each other and with students to the benefit of everyone’s ultimate success.
During his address, Dr. McCoy will explore several concrete strategies to build community with one another as educators and with your students. He will also identify the relationship between building community with students and positive student success outcomes.
Dr. McCoy is the co-creator and executive producer of the acclaimed documentary, No Greater Odds, and serves as the vice president for academic affairs at the College of Southern Nevada. As the chief academic officer for the College of Southern Nevada, James is responsible for the supervision of curriculum and instruction delivered by approximately 1,400 full time and part time faculty to about 30,000 diverse students each semester.
CLEC 2024 will be held February 22-24 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Registrants have the option to attend in-person or virtually. Register by February 1 to get the regular rate and save $50 off the onsite/late registration rate.
