Now accepting topic proposals for the “New Educator Workshop” (NEW)!
Do you have expertise, experience, and tools for new educators that would be best delivered in an interactive workshop format?
The Committee on Educational Programs and Initiatives (CEPI) is seeking proposals for a 2 hour workshop geared towards educating and empowering new educators. Possible workshop topics include, but are not limited to:
- Writing measurable learning outcomes/objectives
- Tools for developing assessments
- Planning ahead for Retention, Promotion and Tenure Opportunities
- Writing effective syllabi and manuals
- Setting boundaries with students
Proposals should include workshop theme/focus and a brief outline of the learning activities. Brief bio of presenter, including expertise in the topic area, should also be submitted. Limit of two presenters on workshop proposal.
Proposals are due by Wednesday, September 24th and a decision will be made in October.
DETAILS ABOUT THE NEW EDUCATOR WORKSHOP (NEW)
Background on the NEW: The New Educator Workshop (NEW) will address the needs of those new to educator positions in clinical laboratory science-related programs. NEW is designed to assist early-career educators transition into teaching roles and support their professional development. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with presenters and fellow educators via interactive presentations, discussions, and peer-to-peer learning activities. This is an add-on to CLEC registration.
Presentation Time
The workshop is held Thursday morning of CLEC (February 5th, prior to the Opening Keynote Session) and includes 2 hours of instruction on one of these topics (additional 30 minutes is included for introductions, networking, etc.).
